The economic constraints of the COVID-19 pandemic impacted me greatly. I am very pleased to now be a client of Hoyes, Michalos and Associates. My trustee is patient and very knowledgeable. She has provided me with a measurable approach to financial freedom, without having to file for personal bankruptsy. We were able to work with my debtors with a consumer proposal. I am well on my way to fulfilling my goals. Thank you!

I rate this company a zero. On their website, they claim a 99 percent success rate. They do not define "success rate" however, I must be the lucky 1 in 100 that did not fall within their "99 percent success rate". I filed a consumer proposal through their office and ended up paying MORE than I owed. Apparently, those you owe can add additional fees and charges at time of proposal. Not only did I pay ALL of my accumulated debt, I paid additional interest and penalties PLUS Hoyes Michalos's fees. Overall, I paid approximately 35% more than I owed. I am deeper in debt now than I was before making "the call". As stressful as my debt situation was, it is much worse now after working with these people. I have obviously made a lot of poor financial decisions in my life but this tops them all. AVOID OR LOSE MORE THAN YOU THOUGHT POSSIBLE.

I stepped into Brian’s office a few years ago and I was extremely stressed due to my debts. Brian and his team were very helpful from the beginning and straight through to the end. Whenever I had any concerns regarding my payment or my consumer proposals they were readily available. A lot of people tend to suffer in silence because they fear being judged, what I will say is we all make mistakes and Brian and team will not judge you. Instead they will quickly and respectfully help you get back to your financial freedom. Thank you a lot Brian! You changed my life.

I am writing about Nicholas, one of the workers here. Back in May 2020 he helped to guide me from a huge mistake, as I was going to do a proposal with another company (one of the first ones I found with a google search) that charged me fees ($1500), and they were not licensed trustees as well. I did research and found that a proposal costs nothing, and should be completed by a licensed trustee. He takes as much time as you require to educate and answer questions with lots of great information and resources. He’s definitely helped me change my finances, mindset, etc, for the better. It's hard for me to say I need help. Pride? Idk, but this firm was very helpful with advice and guidance. I never once felt ashamed or embarrassed. The relief I felt afterwards was awesome.

Before I found Hoyes Michalos I was literally at rock bottom. I was unable to make minimum payments on my credit cards and it was boiling down to the decision between groceries or putting money into a credit card. I had seemed help from the bank and was basically met with “you have no options but to shuffle your existing debt around. There is no option for consolidation” and they told me a consumer proposal would be a terrible idea but could provide no other solution.
When I met with Jeff he didn’t make me feel like I was failing like the bank had previously and he didn’t make me feel like there was no way out. I was treated like a person every step of the way and shown the reality of doing the proposal. I still have a long way to go to repairing my personal situation, but the support and guidance from Jeff and Krista has been great and has helped me feel like I’m not down and out just yet.

Drowning in debt before your 30 and feeling like there is no way to dig your way out is literally suffocating. So having people in your corner, helping you find your way is really reassuring. I am very grateful to have found Hoyes Michalos.

I always prided myself for being independent and capable of taking care of myself financially. However, things happened in my life and I found myself in debt. After going through a horrible divorce and was left in a hard financial situation..
