Personal Bankruptcies in Ontario Increase in 2008
The Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy reports that the number of consumer bankruptcies and consumer proposals increased in Ontario 2008 by 16.2%, as compared to an increase of 8.2% in 2007.
On the chart below we have summarized the number of consumer filings (bankruptcies and proposals) for each major city in Ontario in 2008. All areas of Ontario experienced an increase in consumer insolvencies in 2008.
