Personal Bankruptcies in Ontario Increase Significantly in 2009
The Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy reports that the number of consumer bankruptcies and consumer proposals increased in Ontario 2009 by 32.7%, as compared to an increase of 16% in 2008.
On the chart below we have summarized the number of consumer filings (bankruptcies and proposals) for each major city in Ontario in 2009. All areas of Ontario experienced an increase in consumer insolvencies in 2009.
