I am pleased to announce that two Hoyes Michalos articling students passed the final oral board exam and are now licensed bankruptcy trustees and consumer proposal administrators.
Our two successful candidates, Adam and Jason, have a combined 12 years experience with Hoyes Michalos.
It is those years of experience, combined with our “Fresh Start” approach, that leads many of Adam and Jason’s clients to refer their friends and family to us when they have financial problems. At Hoyes Michalos you don’t meet with a clerk or a sales person. You meet with a professional with many years of experience.
Adam Rauf joined Hoyes Michalos in 2009 after a career as an investment advisor and a public school teacher. For the last two years Adam has helped people find solutions to their debts in our Brampton and Mississauga offices.
Jason Quinney has learned to help solve debt problems working with his father, trustee Richard Quinney. Both Quinneys have served as a valuable part of the Hoyes Michalos team since joining us in 2007. Jason lives in Barrie and spends most of his time in our Barrie office, but he also works with Richard in our Orillia and Vaughan offices.
How do you become a bankruptcy trustee?
To become a licensed trustee, in addition to passing many written exams, you must also pass an oral exam, which was held in Toronto in April, 2014. The oral board is the most challenging part of the process.
The Oral Board of Examination is a one and a half hour exam. The candidates are given half an hour to read the six questions, and then they have one hour to answer them in front of a three person board, comprised of a trustee, a lawyer, and a representative of the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy, the “OSB”.
Once the Boards are completed the OSB reviews the results from across the country to ensure that the process was fair to all candidates, which is why the results are typcially released around the end of May each year.
We are very proud of our successful candidates, and are pleased that the we have now passed 7 candidates in a row over the last three years.
Seven new trustees in three years is a significant achievement, so if you want to put one of our new trustees, or any of our experienced professionals to the test, give us a call at 1-866-747-0660, and let’s get started.
