Did You Know There’s a Snack Tax?

3 Ways To Save When You Grocery Shop
- Shop at different (if you can). If you have the option, consider alternating between big box stores, specialty stores, and regular/discount grocery stores to become familiar with different product prices. You may find some of your regular purchases cheaper in one location than another. You don’t have to go to all three in one week, but change up your routine to learn more about what to buy and where.
- Be mindful of weekend shopping. Grocery stores know there will be a lot of demand on the weekends from Friday to Sunday, so they can be strategic with their pricing. You may also want to avoid shopping on Mondays because it’s more likely that shelves will be empty. The ideal time to grocery shop is between Tuesday and Thursday, if you have the option and availability to do so.
- Meal plan around what’s on sale, not what’s on your shopping list. While it’s great to go to the store with a plan about what you need, don’t be afraid to adjust your list based on deals you find when you are there. It might mean changing what you planned to cook, but you could save a lot by doing so.
